This guide is educational, not personalized financial, legal or security advice. A checklist reduces avoidable mistakes; it cannot make a transaction risk-free.
The idea in plain English
Tokenized products can have investor eligibility, jurisdiction and transfer restrictions. A website loading in your browser does not establish that you may buy or hold the product. Rules may depend on the entity, asset, offering structure and your circumstances. Verify current requirements through official documents and qualified local advice.
The distinction that matters
Do not use a VPN, false address, borrowed account or fabricated qualification to evade restrictions. Such workarounds can create legal and recovery problems. Transfer restrictions may also continue after purchase, affecting which wallets can receive tokens and how an exit works.
A practical example
A fictional product lets visitors browse a research page globally but accepts investments only from specified eligible users. Browsing access and investment permission are different. An onboarding hub should explain that boundary rather than promising universal access.
Try this without moving money
- Locate current eligibility and jurisdiction terms from the issuer.
- Check whether restrictions apply to purchase, holding, transfer and redemption.
- Resolve unclear requirements through official support or qualified advice before proceeding.
A mistake to avoid
Do not treat someone else’s successful sign-up as proof that you are eligible. Personal circumstances and entity arrangements can differ.
Before you act
Tokenization changes how a claim is represented, not automatically the quality of the claim. Rights, eligibility and redemption are product- and jurisdiction-specific. The SEC staff reference is a US taxonomy discussion, not worldwide legal advice or a binding rule. Cairn is introduced here as research software, not a place to deposit money.
Check your understanding.
Does a product page loading mean you are eligible to invest?
A correct answer records local learning progress, not a qualification or proof of financial readiness.
