Community points are not money: set expectations clearly

The idea in plain English

Points are units defined by a program’s rules. They may recognize contributions, rank activity or track participation. Unless current terms explicitly create a redemption right, do not describe them as money. Even a visible leaderboard does not establish that points can be transferred, sold or exchanged.

The distinction that matters

The public StonkBuilder community describes reviewed, scoped points and says payments and redemption are disabled. That boundary should travel with every guide and invitation. A creator should not speculate that points will later become tokens or use uncertain future rewards to pressure newcomers.

A practical example

A contributor sees 20 points for a reviewed piece of work. A responsible explanation says what action was recognized and how the scoring works. It does not convert the points into an invented dollar value or call them guaranteed earnings.

Try this without moving money

• Read the current scoring, eligibility and redemption terms.
• Explain recognition separately from any financial benefit.
• Keep campaign invitations consistent with the actual program status.

A mistake to avoid

Do not promise an airdrop, cash payout or transferable credential when the product only describes internal points.

Before you act

Good onboarding gives people a useful next step without financial pressure. Keep personal information out of public profiles unless you deliberately choose to share it. The StonkBuilder Community page describes reviewed points, not redeemable money. Public product descriptions were consulted; private creator/editor/account flows were not tested for this library.
